Rick Diana, Trustee My 60th birthday is a special opportunity for my family and friends to join me in lifting even one more child off the waiting list for the 2021 school year. 2020 has been a difficult year for all of us, but the COVID crisis has disproportionately impacted the families of our students with illness, job loss, and the risk of losing their small businesses. It has also caused others who haven't needed our help in the past to seek scholarships for their children. While Tri-County has increased the number of scholarships it awarded in 2020 by 200 to address the need, our waiting list has also significantly grown. We expect a record number of scholarship applications in 2021as more families continue to be adversely impacted by the continuing crisis. For 40 years, Tri-County Scholarship Fund's formula has been proven to work: Tri-County awards partial scholarships for K-12th grade students to attend safer, quality schools. Our partner schools often offer discounted tuition. The parents and families make significant sacrifices to pay their share. ALL ARE INVESTED IN THE SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS. Why does it work? The parents and families have "skin in the game" and stay engaged in the process. The schools provide safe, disciplined, and values-centered environments, allowing the students to thrive. Tri-County donors and supporters are moved by the impact they see unfold in the lives of our students and stay connected. OUR STUDENTS FEEL CARED FOR AND BELIEVED IN AND MAKE THE MOST OUT OF THE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY. A one-year K-8th grade scholarship is $2000 and a one-year high school scholarship is $4000. The donation amounts are multiples of $60 to reflect my 60th milestone birthday, but please consider helping with any sized gift that you can. Thank you! -Rick P.S. I am proud to be a part of this organization that has earned the highest 4-star Charity Navigator rating! A Message from Rick:

Freedom Scholars 1/1 Freedom Scholar application process Step 1: Apply to one of our partner schools. Please contact the school admission department or apply online directly to the school by their deadline. View High School Partners (School may have an earlier deadline) Step 2: Applicants must demonstrate financial need by filling out the FACTS application online. Review eligibility and requirements here . Apply through FACTS February 15 deadline Step 3: Fill out the Freedom Scholar supplemental application and return completed application with all required items by the deadline. Download Supplemental Application February 15 deadline **for students entering 9-12th grade only** In addition to the customary annual scholarships of $2,250 per grade school student and $4,000 per high school student, Tri-County offers Freedom Scholarships. The Freedom Scholar program is geared to high school students with financial need and significant academic achievement and potential. It’s a partnership between participating schools, families and Tri-County. Freedom Scholars benefit from having the bulk of their tuition paid. Tri-County contributes up to $5,000 and the participating schools must at least match that amount in tuition credits. The students' families will pay the remaining balance of the tuition. Applicants to the program must be graduating 8th graders and high school students. The scholarship is annually renewable. Freedom Scholars exhibit high achievement: a B average or better is the norm both in 8th grade and throughout high school. Emphasis is also placed on attendance, homework, participation, service and general good behavior. Students falling below a B will be placed on academic probation and every attempt will be made by the school to help them achieve a B average. If the above-mentioned guidelines are in order, the student will retain the scholarship. If not, the student will be dropped from the program, absent extenuating circumstances. In each high school, Freedom Scholars have a designated mentor, a senior staff or faculty member, who meets with them monthly. In addition, tutoring is available to all Freedom Scholars along with college testing preparation in junior year and college essay preparation in senior year. Top Tri-County scholars have been awarded full tuition scholarships to Colgate, Cornell, Villanova, UCLA, Rutgers, Georgetown, and Notre Dame, among others. Download and print application or pick up at participating high schools. The deadline for applications is February 15. Awards will be announced in April. For more information, please call 973-984-9600 or email Jody Varvaro at: jvarvaro@tcsfund.org
