The third annual Women of Achievement luncheon was held on Friday, March 20, 2015, at the Morris County Golf Club in Morristown, New Jersey.  Sponsored by the Tri-County Scholarship Fund, the event drew 180 guests.  This year’s luncheon was chaired by Sally Glick, Principal and Chief Growth Strategist at Sobel & Co.

The 2015 honorees were Angela Kubisky, Executive Vice President, Membership & Marketing, Morris County Chamber of Commerce; Ramelle J. Massey, President, Massey Insurance Agency; Madeleine D. Robinson, Chief Executive Officer, LPS Industries; Gloria Shope, Academic Supervisor for the Humanities, Pope John XXIII High School, and Deirdre Wheatley-Liss, Esq., Principal, Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, P.C.

The program began with an inspirational invocation delivered by Rev. Msgr. Kieran McHugh, President of Pope John XXIII High School in Sparta, New Jersey.

The luncheon benefited the Freedom Scholars Program, an initiative of the Tri-County Scholarship Fund that awards generous scholarships to high-performing students of significant financial need, so that they can attend private secondary schools.  The highlight of the luncheon was the remarks by four of the first class of graduating Freedom Scholars, all from De Paul Catholic High School in Wayne.  Among the students who spoke, Genesis Pena will attend Montclair State as a digital animation major; Veronica Vergara will attend Pace University in New York and will major in Finance.  Christian Alvarado will attend Drew University and major in Art and Psychology.  The fourth Freedom Scholar, Zaire Davidson, is still deciding where to commit among the 9 colleges that accepted him.  Zaire plans to major in business and then attend law school.

The guests enjoyed the opportunity to network with each other.  At the conclusion of lunch, awards were presented to the five accomplished and inspirational women, each of whom was introduced by a friend.

Over the past 32 years, Tri-County has awarded more than $23 million dollars in scholarships.  These scholarships have changed the lives of many students.  The four students who spoke at the Women of Achievement luncheon were shining examples of the transformative power of such help.
