First Annual “Toast for a Cause”
The Friends of the Tri-County Scholarship Fund hosted its first Toast for a Cause on Friday, November 13. The Morris Museum offered its premises for the event which was dedicated to raising scholarship funds for financially disadvantaged children in Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties. Since 1981, Tri-County Scholarship Fund has given more than 17 million dollars in scholarships.
Guests were treated to a moveable feast through the sponsorship of the event by Outback Steakhouse of Parsippany and Outback Steakhouse of Edgewater. The Park Avenue Club of Florham Park donated the hors d’oeuvres and the set-up of the premises. Gary’s Wine and Marketplace of Madison donated the wine while the Parsippany Hilton donated the water and soda. Furniture that enlivened the space was donated by Jersey Street Furniture.
After a time of great food and socializing, Dr. Mannan Razzak spoke. Dr. Razzak is a trustee of the Tri-County Scholarship Fund who received a scholarship while in high school. He serves as a pediatric emergency physician at Chilton Memorial Hospital and assistant professor at New Jersey Medical School.
A highlight of the evening was the raffling of a BMW Mountain Bike, 4 NY Jets tickets, a David Yurman necklace and earrings set, a Waterford crystal eagle and a digital camera. Said Gregory Floyd, President of Tri-County Scholarship Fund: “Many hearts and hands contributed the success of this event. We wanted to create an event that was affordable for most, one that would extend the reach of Tri-County to many more people that we hope will get involved in making life better for some of the younger members of our communities. Our gratitude goes to our sponsors and all the Friends of Tri-County who made this night such a success.”
